Epic Win!!! I lost 1lb last night in weigh in, taking my total weight loss to 1st 3lbs. I now weigh 9st 2.5lb. The lightest I have been in…FOREVER (discounting childhood that is). Well, if that isn’t a huge motivator for carrying on I really don’t know what is.
Having made a brilliant eating plan on yesterdays post ready for today I was all ready to have a fabulous syn free eating day today. However, I woke up this morning horror struck! I had forgotten about going to see Michael Mcintyre. That alone is fine as I will take a bottle of water and if I feel like eating I will take along some of the juicy grapes that are currently waving at me from the fruit bowl. Unfortunatly I had completely forgotten the Tamatanga (indian) meal beforehand…DOH! I spoke to my other half about it pre motivation 1lb weight loss as we have buy one get one free vouchers (would almost be rude not to!) This is the nightmare of every person trying to lose weight.
But all is not lost as I have a plan! I will stick to the following rules:
- No creamy sauces – this is one I must stick to so I WILL NOT be ordering my usual Chicken Tikka Masala and will be going for something tomato based instead.
- Boiled rice instead of Pilau rice – Now don’t get me wrong Pilau Rice is not the big bad monster as an average portion comes in at 2.5 syns and lets face it in the world of Indian cuisine thats brill. It’s just that If I know I am going to be having a syn laden meal I want syn free where possible.
- No extras – Usually when I go into some sort of indian restaurant my initial instinct is to order the whole kit and caboodle. So no poppadoms or naan breads or anything. Just my main meal as I will still have too much on my plate and be unable to eat it. \
- Chicken or Vegetable dishes – chicken is the most likely to be lean. Other meats tend to be unpredictable and vegetables kinda speak for themselves.
Normally when eating in an Indian restaurant I’d have a poppadom (4 syns each) with mango chutney (4 syns for 2 level tbsp) while ordering, then I’d have onion bhajis as a starter (8.5 syns). For my main I would have chicken tikka masala (14.5) with a portion of pilau rice (2.5 syns) and of course a garlic and coriander naan bread (20 syns). As I would be pretending to be on a diet I would then skip the dessert and be drinking diet coke. That baby is a whooping 53.5 syns!!!!!!!
I will not be doing that this time! I am struggling to choose exactly what I will be having but I will be choosing from the following:
- Tandoori chicken (without any sauce) with boiled rice (fingers crossed as it isn’t mentioned on the menu) – 9 syns
- Chicken Biryani – 12.5 syns
- Vegetable Biryani – 11.5 syns
- Lamb Rogan Josh – 6.5 syns
At the minute Lamb Rogan Josh is winning and even if I have to have Pilau rice it wont break the syn bank. Today’s food diary is as follows:
Breakfast Fruit and Fibre (HEB and 1 syn), Semi Skimmed Milk (1/2 HEA – I only have the tiniest bit)
Snack Banana (SUPERFREE) and water (FREE)
Lunch Chicken and Herb Low Fat Supernoodles (FREE), Tea with Milk (HEA) and Sweetener (FREE), 2 Nectarine (SUPERFREE – I was super hungry after the gym and swimming today)
Snack Fat Free Muller Greek Styke Yoghurt (0.5 syn) Tea with Milk (HEA) and Sweetener (FREE)
Dinner Lamb Rogan Josh (6.5 syns) Boiled rice (FREE) or if I can’t have that then Pilau Rice (2.5 syns) Diet Coke (FREE)
Snack Water (FREE) and grapes (SUPERFREE)
Total with boiled rice = 8 syns. Total with Pilau rice = 10.5 syns.
